6 Simple Painting Techniques for Beginners
When you start out painting it is common to be unsure of how to approach the process. Yet each painter must develop his own approach and style in the end. It becomes easier to do once you have done it a million times or more. The techniques however will remain the same and some are basis so much so you cannot avoid them. Here are a few painting techniques to use when starting out.

Decide on the colours you are going to use.
Here you must have a vision of what it is you want to paint and how the different colours will not only look on the canvas but also how they will blend together.
Use more than basic colours
Try mixing a bit of blue with the black, or put a touch of red in to come up with a slight reddish effect.
Start out light
Your painting will dry less opaque if you use a greater amount of acrylic without water. Try diluting the acrylic by using more water and it will work as a water colour.
Use gesso on canvas
Yes, for your prime layer on canvas use gesso before you begin. Once it has dried sand the surface until it is smooth. The finished surface will be great to work with acrylics on.

Try something new.
In much the same way some designer suits are designed, do not erase what you have painted too quickly. Cover up your mistake and try coming with a new angle and try something new.
Take time to finish your painting
Many new painters often attempt to finish a painting in one sitting. This often leads to a poorly done job but if you approach it in stages the end result will be something pleasing to you and others. So if you have to work in spurts a day or two apart then do so.
