Make your own paperback!
Picture the scene: you’ve written a book. It’s taken forever. And, while it may not be the best book in the entire world, it’s still a book. The point is this: you’d like to make it into a paperback. Preferably without spending so much money you completely shatter the bank.
The problem, of course, is that printing is not cheap and never has been. Paper is one thing, but nowadays the cost of ink is high and so is the labour needed to input all that data into a printer. In other words, not everyone can afford to do it.
But don’t panic! If there’s one thing you can do it’s make your own paperback, and now we’re going to show you exactly how to do it!
find a decent sized bottle of PVA glue, something to spread it with a spatula or brush is fine and some bulldog clips
Let’s use this example.
1) Gareth has worked in Caravan insurance for fifteen years and, during that time, he has come across many funny situations. So he decided to write a book about it, and then research how to make his own paperback. Good with his hands is Gareth.
2) To make your very own book, you will need the following: find a decent sized bottle of PVA glue, something to spread it with a spatula or brush is fine and some bulldog clips. Bulldog clips are those heavy-duty metal clips you use to grip many sheets of paper.
3) Now, print off your pages. Make sure the paper isn’t the cheap kind, as this won’t accept the glue well.
4) Stack your pages, be them A4 or whatever. Then apply the clip to the side which is NOT the spine side.
5) The other side, free of clips, will become the fused together spine side. Now take the end and carefully roll the stack back on itself, until the pages spread out and the end of each of them can be seen.
6) Apply the glue and be careful to not allow the glue to run through the gaps. Be careful, but bold with it. Make sure you apply enough glue! Now you’re pretty much done!
7) Leave to dry.
8) Then...you’ll find when it has dried, the next day or so, that it’s looking good! Now you need to add a strip of card to the spine to keep it all in place. Once you have done that you should be away!
9) Now you have your very own paperback. Cool, right?
